Hi, I’m Liberty - A marine biologist, science communicator and presenter who works on all things marine flavoured, including my childhood fascination, sharks.  I’m a people pleaser by nature and figured, ‘I could make a career out of this’, and thus followed my entrance into the stakeholder engagement space.

In my eyes, every environmental issue is a social issue. Without addressing the needs of the people closest to environment, we’ll never be able to conserve the Ocean the way we’d like to. This interdisciplinary approach is core to the work I do now and strongly influenced my Co-Founding of KAI, a charity for people, policy and Ocean protection, a middle man (or woman if you will) in the fractured realm that is the fisheries space.

I am also the Head of Ocean Literacy for Ocean Generation where I run programmes both in the UK and internationally to increase accessibility and knowledge of the Ocean. Nobody can conserve the Ocean alone, and collaboration, even with unlikely partners, has been the grounding sentiment to my work with a broad range of sectors over the last 6 years.

To me, working in science communication is about engaging people outside of our (marine) ‘bubble’, breaking down complex topics and research that wouldn’t otherwise be seen outside of a scientific journal. The science speaks for itself, but it needs more space to do so.

Want to work with me? Let me know!

Working towards a healthier ocean can take many forms, so from science communication to presenting, writing to research assistance, I look forward to hearing how I can help.
